PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO SURE UKRAINE TO JOIN MAP IN DECEMBER

Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko expressed confidence at the Ukraine-NATO Commission meeting that Ukraine will join the NATO Membership Action Plan after North Atlantic Council Foreign Ministerial in December 2008.
"Our meeting is running right after extremely important, historical for all European security decision. The North Atlantic Council has recently given an absolutely clear signal regarding further relations development between Ukraine and NATO," the President stressed.
President Yushchenko thanked Alliance's member states for backing Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic aspirations. "The current summit has clearly defined - Ukraine will join NATO. This is a historical event for our people and state", he noted adding that just because of that "we appreciate support of our intentions to join the MAP by all without exception, I emphasize, all NATO member states. He also praised a decision to hold in December the North Atlantic Council Foreign Ministerial to assess Ukraine's progress regarding the NATO Membership Action Plan.
Yushchenko expressed confidence that the meeting will invite Ukraine to the MAP. "In our opinion, principal confirmation of the Alliance's open door policy regarding Ukraine strengthens ideology and principles of a single indivisible European security space Ukraine is a part of for sure," the Ukrainian President summarized.
