In frames of a visit of President Viktor Yushchenko to Lisbon, Ukraine and Portugal signed a Road Map of Ukraine-Portugal Relations 2008-2010, as well as Air Service Agreement, Crime Control Agreement and Military Cooperation Agreement.
The Air Service Agreement creates a bilateral contract-legal frame for air transport cooperation. The instrument outlines a procedure of the international flight regulation within exploitation air lines between Ukraine and Portugal.
The Crime Control Agreement is intended to fulfill particular measures on cooperation of the two states in combating transnational organized crime.
The Military Cooperation Agreement will launch regular contacts between the armed forces of Ukraine and Portugal that used to be of occasional nature before due to the absence of a regulatory and legal framework. Taking into account the fact that Portugal is one of the NATO founder states and the EU member, the military cooperation development will meet Ukraine's foreign policy course and facilitate practical implementation of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
